Halfway there
Nov. 12th, 2010 11:38 amWell, the neighbor agreed to help out, so he and DH went this morning to the thrift store to pick up the piano. The thrift store has a hydraulic lift, so it was easy getting it into the truck. However, it is now in the truck. They each had to go to work, so it's sitting in their garage until tonight when we can find people to help unload. DH is medium size and the neighbor is smallish, and the piano weighs probably 700 lbs. I'm not sure exactly how they plan to get it out of the truck and into our house. We have a few boards lying around, but I don't know how much weight they'll hold. (Ideally we could run a ramp from the back of the truck straight into the house--but more likely is running a ramp to the ground and then from the ground into the house. I just don't see lifting the thing, even with a bunch of guys.
We'd better not move this summer! I don't want to heft this thing around again for a long time. And I'll rest a LOT easier once it's safely inside and everyone emerges whole and sound.
