It is SO QUIET with only one kid at home!! And when I got Little Sweetie from school she was tired and took a nap after lunch. (O that the 2YO had done that today...) We did the DMV thing today--car and drivers license registration--so it's not like I was just home all the time. But still, I had time to write about 800 words. I am liking my story so far. Once all this moving in stuff is done (and we are getting closer to the end all the time), it will be nice to have some regular writing time.
Did you know that you can't register to vote in Idaho until you've lived here for 30 days? I get that they don't want people moving to another state for a few days just to bulk up the vote, but if you're a student and move in for fall semester (which starts on Sept 9) and you can't register for 30 days (Oct 9) but have to have been registered for 30 days before an election so you can vote (Nov 9), you are cutting it mighty fine and very likely won't get to vote. Nice, huh? It's not just our county--I looked it up, and not only is it statewide, but there are quite a few states that are like that. Also, did you know that if you are driving in an area designated as "open range" (usually accompanied by a picture of a cow), you are liable for any livestock you hit? Never mind about the state of your own health... Just remember that if you ever drive in Idaho. Don't hit the cows.
