Strange birds randomocity
Jul. 23rd, 2010 12:55 amTwo must be a magic number. PMB has suddenly started using two word sentences (he's supposed to do that by the time he turns two, and he managed to start the day before). He's also twice now walked in and taken a nap without any effort on our part, and without the car's rhythm or anything putting him down. And, night before last, he slept all night without waking up!! This is exciting. I hope he tries it again sometime. He's also decided he wants Dad to help him fall asleep tonight with the new ritual of watching TV together. Since we don't actually own a TV ourselves, this might be interesting a couple weeks once we leave Grandma's house and go to our own. I'm sure that Dad will find a way, though...
Don't you hate it when you think you've finally learned something and then you realize that the mountain you thought you'd climbed was really only a foothill? Yeah. I can't decide if I should write a whole new book and come back to this one, or dive in right now. I think I first need to get moved in before working on new stuff, though--I need to see how the surroundings affect the muse and all. Which means--argh--plenty of time to think about revisions. I have a clear idea of what I want the story to do, really. It's just that no one seems to get it, which means I still have work to do.
Finally, some pictures from today. I think that if I went to college here:

I might have a hard time concentrating. And not just because of these signs:

This is what the campus borders:

There are lots of birds enjoying the higher learning experience as well, like these ones who are pretending to be lollipops:

And since I particularly love herons I had to take a picture of this, too (I'm not sure if it's a white heron or an egret--one has a yellow beak and one has black, but I can't remember which):

And here's a funny duck I saw in a park yesterday:

Um...that's all a bit random, but isn't summer? Hope you are having a good one!
