housing

If anyone has any good vibes to send me on housing, I'd sure appreciate it! We're moving up to Idaho in less than a month now, and still haven't been able to find a place to live. Nearly all the housing I see advertised is 0-2 bedroom apartments. The few houses that are supposedly for rent are either way overpriced, for sale (and the owners say up front that they will eject you upon sale--even if you supposedly have a lease!), or both. There is one that looks nice on paper, is not for sale, is a great price--but it's by both a large irrigation canal AND a railroad track. Not very kid-friendly. But so far it's nearly the only place we can fit into. Also, we can't find anyone who's actually seen it; apparently it's hard to find, and even the people at the rental agency have never been there. After the issues with the last house we moved into, sight unseen, I'd feel better if I could talk to SOMEONE who's been inside of it. Or even seen the outside!

Really, I don't think I'm asking for the moon here. Just a 3-4 bedroom house for rent for a year that isn't falling apart and that isn't somewhere dangerous and that isn't going to be sold out from under me. (And that isn't overpriced, either--if you have moved out because you can't pay your mortgage, I probably can't pay that amount PLUS the extra you're going to charge for rent.) So positive vibes appreciated, because I'm starting to wonder if we need to bring some family-sized tents up there??
