Well, the bird was indeed still alive this morning. A little caked with baby food oatmeal, but it was actually stronger than it was last night, and had started to get the concept of the eyedropper. However, um...I already change baby diapers, and birdie poop is even more prolific, so It Was Time to find a new solution. I called some area veterinarians looking for a wildlife rehabilitation person, and finally found one with the right contacts who could care for the bird until the handoff. So we drove all the way up to Rogers (several towns away) and brought it in. Now I can get some sleep, not feel like a murderer, and hopefully the bird can get better as well. Whew! Moral: always check your bushes before trimming! Also--the way a baby bird moves, especially when there no feathers to hinder your view, is eerily similar to how I imagine a dragon would move.
