I'm listening to ice crinkling on the window behind me. The radar looks like an x-ray of a pelvis with wobbly femurs holding it up, only it's sitting right on us. Splat. Rain may be splashing on the driveway, but icicles are lining up on the power lines. If you recall, exactly one year ago we spent 5 days with no power (ie no heat/hot water, highs of 15 degrees, and no where to flee to as 90% of the area was just as powerless as we were. We're about as prepared as we can be--no generator, but we have charged the phones, have a stack of firewood, have a charged lantern and lots of batteries, a tent, sleeping bags for all but PMB, who would want to be in mine, anyway, bottled water, canned stew, a whole extra pizza left over from tonight, stuff for smores and for baking cake in oranges (just in a pan over the fire failed miserably last year), stuff for foil dinners, plenty of eggs, a little bacon, lighter fluid and briquets and a grill...
I don't mind school being cancelled. (I have seen no notices but I assume it will be.) BUT. I really, really, really, really don't want to lose power!! Despite all that, I just can't handle the idea of no heat. However, the weather seldom consults me, so in case I disappear, that's what's up.
Wishing summer to you all!
