Six things on a...Thursday?
Oct. 1st, 2009 04:44 pm1. Seven-year-old daughter just came in to announce that she has "two savvies. I am perfect at math. And I am PERRRRRfect at screaming!" No kidding.
2. DH might finally be getting relief from his head pains. Recently he got his permanent crown put on, and since then his fillings have felt better. Yay! And today he went to get his plugged ear looked at. He was expecting to get tubes (yes, an adult in his 30s), but apparently his eustacian tube is empty, but he has mucus on the wrong side of his eardrum. It's so gummed up he can't hear. (It is supposed to be on the inside. It's not supposed to be on the outside, which means he must have a perforation somewhere.) He'll take some medication to clear it all up and then they'll take a closer look at what's going on. This is the same ear that got infected a couple years ago and ended up in Bells palsy (temporary paralysis on one side of his face). So, we hope that they can get his ear totally cleared up so he can hear and things can go back to normal. I'm sure he's happy that they aren't putting holes in his head.
3. I keep wanting to play with the plumbing and essentially put more bandaids on our wooden shower with linoleum floor. (Note to homeowners: NEVER EVER do a shower like this!!!) However, it's going on hold to make room for the electrical extravaganza. The light switch in the other bathroom went out, and so we bought a new one and hooked it up. Apparently it works--it just involves smoke and sparks flying out of the wires. So uh, we're keeping that circuit off until the owner of the house can show up and make it all better. We're getting to see what it's like to live in the Olden Days where you had to bring your own flashlight (or candle).
4. I still haven't gotten to my Illustration Friday drawing for this week, but with all I've had going on, I've really been craving the mental refreshment of drawing. PMB took a very short nap and I was able to do some doodling; we'll see what comes of it. (To see pix from past weeks, see http://kieferwald.wordpress.com.)
5. I have several projects of a critique nature to finish in the next couple days, and then I will be able to get to the finishing touches on my revision (thank you to those who most recently offered suggestions--they are much appreciated). There are some things to get to, but overall I am feeling good about the book. I feel like I wrote the book I was meant to write at this time. Like I gave someone a voice (it sure wasn't me!). It won't be everyone's favorite book (I have had total silence back from a couple of readers, which makes me wonder if they disliked it so much that they'd rather not bring it up than tell me they didn't like it). But I believe/hope it was written for *somebody.* I hope to finish it up and send it off soon. Hopefully it finds a good home.
6. Wow. Sudden RAIN! Looks like the promised wild weather has arrived. Ah, well. We saw our sun for the year, I guess.
