The music kind, I mean. So I'm the church organist (because they are desperate, seriously), and I've kind of worked out by now the registration I turn on when I play on Sunday. There are these presets and I usually set that, plus add a few more stops to round it out and make sure it supports the congregation without overpowering them. It's an electronic organ (an Allen Protege) but a nice-ish one, and so when you turn it off, it should cancel all settings, right? The only mechanical thing on it is this knob that transposes the key. (I already found out that that doesn't reset itself, thanks to my second son, who thought it would be funny to turn it five keys down just before the meeting started...)

Anyway, the settings changed! I didn't think you could mess with the presets it came with, but I swear I set it just the way I do every week, only it came out with tuba solo and celeste tremulant. Ack! I am trying to remove stops as I'm playing, and it's only sounding more oompapa as we go (the LDS organ style is more like Anglican or Catholic than well..I actually don't know who would use a trembling tuba in church! But that's not the expected sound!) I know I need an 8' a 4' and a 2' in the manuals, and probably 16' and 8' in the pedals, but no matter what I did, the wrong things came out. Anyone know of a good page explaining *very simple* church organ registration? Because the default setting has definitely changed, and I need to freehand it.

That, or next week I'll just bring an accordion, instead...
