surviving revisions
Apr. 17th, 2009 11:46 am1. Pulling out a single plot thread and looking at it in isolation is a very, very good thing to do. Yikes. How could I have overlooked my MC's brother? The brother totally needs to be there instead of someone else. He is the right domino, not the other guy. It means substituting out one character for another, and basically eliminating the original one. But it will add so, so much to my MC's relationships with others (both positive and negative). And luckily it will still mesh with another important plot line. Whew.
2. When will Lap Boy ever sleep??? He fell asleep at 8 last night and woke up at ten, and was up playing until midnight. No wonder he was cranky this morning. He's finally napping, but I don't count on it lasting long.
3. Last night I went to a really good Enrichment meeting put on by the women's organization at church (Relief Society). The theme was survival, kind of inspired by the major ice storm we had back in January (and which we are STILL cleaning up after). We had mini classes on surviving weather disasters, making new clothes out of old (ie, financial disasters), cooking with what you've got, car repair, and what was supposed to be first aid, only the guy they asked to teach it is a urologist, and he decided that his subject would be MUCH more interesting. It was actually really good, humorous, and I don't think anyone will ever forget it!
Okay. Back to revisions, as long as Lap Boy is down and Little Sweetie occupied drawing.
