Wisdom from the ancient Egyptians...
Apr. 9th, 2009 09:11 pmI admit I don't get most of the Pyramid Texts (oldest Egyptian sacred writings we know of). But I did like these tidbits:
Osiris N., take to thyself thy natron, that thou mayest be divine. (Utterance 33, verse 25a)
--In other words, eat your broccoli, Osiris, or you'll never get hair on your chest.
And this more serious one:
Osiris N., take to thyself thy natron, that thou mayest be divine. (Utterance 33, verse 25a)
--In other words, eat your broccoli, Osiris, or you'll never get hair on your chest.
And this more serious one:
No seed of a god, which belongs to him, goes to ruin; so thou who belongest to him wilt not go to ruin. (Utterance 215, verse 145a)
--Of course, I do not believe in ancient Egyptian gods, but it bears the same sentiment as that old elementary school poster, "
I know I'm special, 'cause God don't make no junk."
