organ

We have an organ now!  Some people we know were trying to get rid of it--their son wanted to learn piano, and the organ--which they'd gotten for him--is NOT the piano--and it was gathering dust in their garage. And so now it's ours. It needs three of four speakers repaired (there is paper or something in speakers? And most of it is gone? I don't know anything about how speakers are made, but DH looooooves to fix electronic devices, so this will provide hours of entertainment for both of us, it looks like.) Sometimes one or the other keyboard fades out, too--don't know if that has anything to do with the speakers, or if it's another problem. It's a relatively light model ("relatively"--it's still an organ), with only one octave of pedals, and fewer keys above as well. But it seems more substantial than the one my parents picked up when I was last learning, in high school. (Plus, this one doesn't shock you every time you touch it, like that one did.) Hopefully I can teach my kids some about keyboard playing, too. (I never took real piano lessons, so um, I'm not exactly sure how it's supposed to work. But we can experiment, right?)

Lap Boy is still heavily congested, but he's now on the pink stuff. The ear infection seems to be getting some better--at least, he is no longer pink and spotty looking (not spots like a rash; spots like fever). Hurray also for Vicks and for upright carseats. He hates his carseat with the passion of ten thousand suns (to steal a phrase from Cheryl Klein), so it says a lot that he is happier sleeping there than in his crib. And he didn't wake up until 5.55 this morning!!! (Usually, even when not sick, he is awake many, many times in the night.) It's supposed to be warmer today, so between that and him feeling better, hopefully I can pick up a few birthday items for Oldest Son, who turns 11 this weekend.

Right now, though, Lap Boy is sleeping, Little Sweetie is playing horses, and I've GOT to figure out some writing stuff.
