Does anyone else have problems with subplot kudzu? It's like they grow faster than I can hack them off. I feel like they're crowding out the main plot line (er, what was it again?). False tension, duplication of character roles, and too much wandering around with backstory...there is just too much clutter in this book! I love books with complicated parts, but they've got to all fit together, and so far it's one big hairball.

On the other hand, given the state of publishing these days (will the bad news ever END?), it looks like I'll have a long time to fix it all...

I guess I should er, follow that up with a more positive post. What makes me happy today is that my kids were able to go back to school and I was able to get my library fine taken care of. And I think I've bought enough books the entire publishing industry (that's what I'm telling DH if he asks, anyhow).

Hm. That's kind of inane. Okay, what I'm really happy about today is that my Lap Child suddenly ceased to have reflux a couple months ago, and has been sooooooooo much happier ever since. He's always Awake! and wants to be held bolt upright all the time, but at least he's laughing and telling jokes when he's doing it. (Baby jokes, that is.) And, I'm happy to have a good library nearby.
