Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow, Jessica Day George
The Underneath, Kathi Appelt (If this book doesn't win the Newbery, I'll be mad!)
The Slightly True Story of Cedar B. Hartley (who planned to live an unusual life), Martine Murray
The Mislaid Magician, or Ten Years After, by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer
Quaking, Kathryn Erskine--a great anti-war book
Flipped, Wendelin van Draanan--what a perfect book!
A Crooked Kind of Perfect, Linda Urban--made me smile, since I'm also learning organ
Fablehaven, Brandon Mull
Dusssie, by Nancy Springer
Whales on Stilts! by M.T. Anderson
The Siren Song, Anne Ursu
Bella at Midnight, Diane Stanley
Set in Stone, Linda Newbery
So Totally Emily Ebers, Lisa Yee
Magic or Madness, Justine Larbelastier
Magic Lessons, Justine Larbelastier
The Adoration of Jenna Fox, Mary E. Pearson--this is one I would have picked up in German; futuristic medical thriller
Crossing to Paradise (Gatty's Tale), Kevin Crossley-Holland
Stravaganza: City of Secrets, Mary Hoffman
The Wrong Hands, Nigel Richardson (if you liked David Almond's Skellig, you might like this)
The End, Lemony Snicket. (But is it really the end?)
Graceling, Kristin Cashore.
Aurelie, Heather Tomlinson.
Lost Time, Susan Maupin Schmid (Quzi at Verla's) I liked this one--it was SF but more serious, not so zany and everything-but-the-kitchen-sink-ish.

Also a number of picture books, but I haven't been keeping track of those. I wish I had also written a lot, but most of my writing has had to be in my head, what with the Lap Baby, who wants both of my hands all the time. On the other hand, the small amount of writing I've been able to get on the page is new stuff and I'm making progress in new areas of the WIP. So I'm happy about the progress I have been able to make.
