Awesome books
Sep. 3rd, 2008 11:13 amIt's raining right now; we've got the remains of Gustav over us. Very wet! There are some similarities between here and where we used to live in Charleston, and even before Gustav, I felt like we needed to be watching hurricane reports and bringing in the grill so it wouldn't blow away. (Yes, we have a grill, thanks to my in-laws, who stopped by for a few days while on their trip to bring my SIL to grad school in Texas. We hope they make it back safely.)
Okay, so here are two great books I can recommend: Jessica Day George's Dragon Slippers (If you like Shannon Hale, you'll like this one) and Adam Rex's The True Meaning of Smekday. I'm just over halfway done with Smekday, so maybe I'm prematurely recommending it, but if you like aliens, road trips, an entertaining "voice," or Happy Mouse Kingdom (aka Disneyworld), you just might like this book.
Ooh, my littlies are asleep--time to write!
