The bad news is that after spending every not-baby hour on scanning documents, getting birth certificates (our baby now has a new bib courtesy of city hall), and DH coming home early to put it all into a zip file so we could send all our passport application material electronically, LIKE THE LETTER SAID WE COULD, we got a reply saying we had to send them a physical, snail mail copy of everything. AAAUUGGHH! So DH rushed it all to the post office right at closing time. But of course it will take a couple extra days now to put everything together for the actual appointment. I am so worried and frustrated over this!

The good news is that I called the Marriott Hotel in Lansing tonight. Our shuttle from the airport stops there and we'll arrive after our storage unit closes (that's where our car is). I can't see hiking anywhere with five kids and 19 pieces of luggage. Well, the cost to put us up would be over $400 for one night. Luckily the reservation woman was very chatty and recommended instead a Marriott-owned chain only a mile away, with a multi-bed family suite, kitchen, free breakfast and internet, etc. for only $189. Plus, it looks like shuttle riders are allowed to park their cars at the Marriott for a small fee. So even though the people watching our car will be gone that week, maybe we can get them to leave it there for us so we can get to this other hotel. I'm glad the reservation lady was chatty, even though I suspect they are all trained to guide people with children to the Kinderghetto hotel so as to leave the Important Guests at the real Marriott in peace. Still. Anything that doesn't involve leaving my kids alone in a hotel room is good with me, especially if it's at half the price.

So of course I can't write in all this--I can barely breathe with all that's going on, and even though every day I cross something off my list, more stuff gets added on. But I think it might be good. I can feel the writing building up inside, and when things are finally calm, I think it's going to spew out. I'm looking forward to it.
