Hm, this hardly seems to go along with the sudden Halloween background Livejournal seems to have given me, but oh, well. It's fall holidays here in Bavaria, and since there's an off and on train strike, we're only doing day trips. We checked out Kronach yesterday--very nice! It's the home of Lukas Cranach the Elder, and has a very nice Altstadt, or old city, up on a hill with huge walls. A few pictures:
This waterspout was on the building next to the fire station.
I realize this isn't directly writing-related, but I've got a couple of Germany-centered stories waiting in the wings of my mind, and if I don't get the mood down now I'll lose it. There is so much more to Germany than the handful of things Americans know about it (Autobahn, Oktoberfest, Holocaust, and Neuschwanstein), and both the contemporary and the past of this place is fascinating. Plus, there's something about the smell of old stone buildings that gets me every time.
