goals and kisses
May. 2nd, 2007 02:55 pmI haven't been setting a lot of monthly goals (er, never?) because I can't think beyond a day and because of the major things going on this year (most notably, the international move with four kids). But today I signed on at Verla's to finish four chapters in May. All half-started chapters that I manage to finish this month count! But I need to make some progress. The whole thing is wanting to come out, but as always, finding TIME is difficult. Hopefully this will help me eek out a few more minutes in the day where I'm actually doing something useful.
That said, the time to write your MC's first kiss is NOT when your toddler is avoiding a nap and your other kids are alternately needing help with homework or angling to get a playdate with a friend. It's bad enough when you have the author looking on, let alone all her relatives. Ack. I meant to be past this point when the full-time mommy part of the day hit.
Edited to add: Woohoo! Toddler sleeping, 1000 words written, and I've hit the end of the chapter. Now I've just got to write the beginning of the chapter, and that's one down for the month. (And how long are chapters, anyhow? This is sort of a pivotal one--the point where everything finally goes "right" for the MC--just before everything really falls apart. But it still seems long.)
