trying a word counter

Since the last time I thought I was writing a 50K novel and it turned out more than twice that, I'm estimating bigger this time. Of course, it would be nice to turn out something a little smaller. But subplots have a way of worming themselves into the story. I take all the characters' plans and desires and combine them so that they all clash with one another, and voila! it's a plot. And there's usually a lot more going on than I'd realized at the start.

Now that I've dropped in the random chapter I wrote a while back, my word count has risen very satisfactorily :). Of course, it's all dreck, and it's very hard not to go back and meddle with it, but I'm not deep enough to risk that yet. Right now we're just focusing on forwarding the plot and character development.
